We are a small team of landscape professionals with over 15 years’ experience in helping clients realise potential in their landscapes. We have helped shape some of the UK’s most important designed landscapes, including Burghley, Lyme Park, Canons Ashby, Fawsley, Shugborough, Stowe, Bramham Park and Killerton Park. Our clients come from the public, private and voluntary sectors. Previous and existing clients include the National Trust, Historic Royal Palaces, private estates, English Heritage, Natural England, The Forestry Commission, local authorities, district & county councils, and AONB partnerships.
Matthew Tickner MLPM CMLI
Matthew is a Chartered Landscape Architect with 14 years of experience in the conservation and management of historic landscapes at some of the United Kingdom's most notable sites including Trentham, Wilton, Burghley, Lyme Park, Stowe and Shugborough. His experience ranges from research and conservation management planning through to securing funding, detailed design and on site supervision. He has extensive experience in landscape planning having prepared open space and green infrastructure strategies, woodland and forestry plans and landscape character assessments. Matthew has delivered seminars and talks to the Garden History Society, The London Gardens Network and the Association of Gardens Trusts. He is a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute, a Green Flag Judge and a member of the Garden History Society.
Will Cookson BA (Hons) MLA LMLI
Will is a Landscape Architect with extensive experience in landscape planning and management and the conservation of historic landscapes. Building upon a degree in Archaeology from the University of Bristol and a previous career as a filmmaker, Will graduated from the postgraduate Master of Landscape Architecture course in Edinburgh before gaining extensive professional experience on a range of high profile projects throughout the UK. His wide-ranging skills include report writing, archival research, field survey, strategic planning and graphic design, with expertise in map overlays, photographic analysis, masterplan design, visualisations and 3D modelling. He has worked at a number of the country’s most important historic landscapes including Burghley, Bramham, Canons Ashby and Stowe, where he has combined his excellent report-writing skills with his aptitude for design and creative thinking.
Sarah Tickner BSc (Hons)
Sarah is Office Manager for Cookson & Tickner Ltd and responsible for overseeing a variety of administrative and financial tasks. Sarah graduated from Birmingham University with a degree in Biochemistry and has a wealth of experience in both large and small business environments. Her previous roles have included technical product support and sales in both Europe and the UK, and management of a team in a health insurance company where she was responsible for achieving quality and productivity targets alongside staff welfare and recruitment.
